Numerical solutions of equations in one variable, polynomial approximation, numerical differentiation and integration, numerical solutions of ordinary differential equations, error analysis. Direct and iterative numerical solutions of systems of linear and nonlinear equations. Numerical computation of eigenvalues and eigenvectors. Introduction to finite element. Students will be expected to write computer programs using the algorithms discussed. Practice in using mathematical software.
